ROCKY MOUNTAIN STATE GAMES RECAP:

The Elite Barbell Club gang had a great showing at the 2018 Rocky Mountain State Games last weekend with eight athletes competing over Saturday and Sunday.

Starting on Saturday morning, the new kids in town were up to bat in their first ever weightlifting meet after attending Elite Barbell Club’s Youth Weightlifting Camp.  Starting the day, 13-year-old Saoirse Moler put up a 20 kg Snatch, a 26 kg Clean and Jerk, finishing with a total of 46 kg. Up next was 13 years old Kaiden Mima, slingin’ a 20 kg Snatch, 24 kg Clean and Jerk, and a 44 kg total.  Finishing up for the youth athletes was Yesaya Moler who snatched 36 kg, clean and jerked 48 kg, and totaled 84 kg. Watch out for these kids!

Later on Saturday, we had two veteran athletes put up some fat numbers including Cherity Lunak and Erin Lamb.  After having a second baby and not competing since December 2016, Lunak makes an enormous comeback Snatching 70 kg, Clean and Jerking 81 kg, and totaling 151 kg to Qualify for the American Open Finals as well as Nationals!  Go, Mom! Up next Erin “Lambo” Lamb cruised in with a 53 kg Snatch, 71 kg Clean and Jerk, and 124 kg total adding 5 kg onto her last meet’s total!

Finishing off the weekend with a bang we had Laura Skalaski, Mark Knight, and Amanda Lampton.  Laura Skalaski started off in the early morning heat putting up a 74 kg Snatch, 101 kg Clean and Jerk, and 175 kg total which was enough to qualify her for the American Open Finals!  Watch out Wisconsin! Up next Mark Knight hit a 114 kg Snatch, 131 kg Clean and Jerk, and a 17 kg total PR of 245 kg!
